History of Singing Scallops
Singing scallop's have been commercially harvested in the past in the seattle area around the 1980's to 1990's and in B.C. around the same time. The economics of the fishery combined with fisherman moving to more lucrative fisheries caused singing scallops to fade into obscurity. Currently there is no commercial harvest of singing scallop's in the Seattle area. There is only 1 boat in alaska and 4 boats in B.C. commercially harvesting singing scallop's
Of the boats still fishing in the B.C. fishery most have been selling them locally in the Powell River area and around Campbell River on Vancouver Island. This has kept them a hidden delicacy with relativily few people even in these area's knowing about singing scallop's.
Currently, We have brought our expertise from the live crab and live prawn fisheries and applied them to the Singing Scallop fishery to bring in the highest quality live BC Singing Scallops to Vancouver, Sunshine Coast and beyond
